Well, today’s on-the-road mobile mountain bike blogging didn’t entirely work out, for the reason I mentioned at the start: there is no mobile network in these parts, except occasionally a Romanian one, but we’ll save extortionate roaming mobile blogging for another day. Anyway, I am back at base camp:
See?! And I am very proud of my campfire, not very visible in the background. Aleks has gone off in the Jeep to seek out more trails, but I reckon this was enough for me for one day. According to Aleksandar’s GPS voodoo, we did 52km today - not that much, I hear you cry, but it involved more than 1300m of quite unfit climbing. So there was a lot of:

All in all, it IS a bit bleak riding in winter, everything is very bare and there are no PEOPLE! I can’t explain exactly WHERE we are, but I will post GPS files when I get back. Now, I’m off for the cup of hot, ash-filled, stream-water coffee that I’ve been dreaming about all day… P.S. Here is that cave pic I messed up earlier:
