My stable - bikes to make grown men weep!

Unis-sarajevo-Poni-bike.jpgI like to participate in a few mountain biking forums, such as mtbr.com, they are great for learning about biking and for idle biking-related chat. Thing is, most of the regulars on these forums are based in the UK, US etc. and they inhabit a completely different world from mine, here in Serbia.

In particular, someone will regularly start a thread about which bikes (always plural!) they currently own and there will follow a flurry of posts in which people reel off a list of brand-names which are completely incomprehensible to me and which apparently signify various, probably hideously expensive bikes.

Living in Serbia, the budget doesn’t exactly allow for purchase of a bike or bikes worth several grand, so I have to settle for more modest machines. I thought I would have a laugh and give you a tour of MY stable, or rather, bike shed, so you can see what I have lurking in there! Check out the MTB-Serbia Gallery for the tour. The bike on the left is just one of the mean-machines in my stable - Mrs. D’s 7o’s or 80’s Unis, made in Sarajevo. Probably a collector’s item by now…!

I know that kind of bicycles! They were also quite common here in Slovenia, but not any more. Time has taken it’s toll, I guess.

BTW. Thanks for visiting my blog. I just have two posts on Serbia for now, but I’m pretty sure they are not the last ones.
The next one just might be connected to Exit2007 if I make it there.

You are very much welcome to visit my blog again.

Cheers man! I had a great cycling holiday in Slovenia a couple of years ago, around the area of Črna na Koroškem. It was REALLY nice - there had been bad weather until I got there in October and then suddenly this fantastic weather came along and I had the place all to myself!!

I’m impressed, I thought I was the only person with a bike stable of this high calibre!

I think maybe I should do this… Alongside the Scott I have a 30 year old Dawes “tourer” and Mr BCs bike is a 1930s racing bike, three Sturmy Archer gears, the works! I’m not so sure about making grown men weep… except when he sits on it. Apparently it’s very uncomfortable!

      Cheers
