The Avid BB5s are Avid's entry-level mechanical disc brakes and if you are looking for a good quality option on a tight budget you can't go far wrong with these. I have a set of these on my main bike and am very satisfied and currently see no need to invest any more at this stage. They stop on a dime, are easily adjustable and have not caused any problems in the whole season I have been riding on them, though I am a disc-brake newbie and appreciate there is always something better out there..! If you are still on rim brakes, give these a try - I am pretty sure you will never go back!
