February 12th, 2008 The Saudi Arabian authorities have banned all things red ahead of Valentine's Day this year, claiming that the holiday promotes immorality. No, this is not about the sale of vastly overpriced Valentine's Day merchandise. The holiday promotes "immoral relations" - you know, saying "I love you", kissing, that sort of thing. Shops selling red stuff, including red hearts, red wrapping paper, and just about anything red have been instructed to remove these from sale, promoting a flourishing market in red roses and just about anything else colored red. Whatever would they say about It's Gotta Be Red?! To the best of our knowledge, this site is still accessible from Saudi Arabia, and we will strive to offer safe haven to every Saudi who wants to enjoy a bit of red on the side. We will stand against opression, we will stand against color-ism. Red red red! |
