I am pleased to say I have ironed out some pretty major issues and expanded an important functionality, so this definitely deserves to be v0.6.
So go and download the latest version from the downloads page.
Thanks for the feedback from users - it’s so useful as you guys pick up stuff I just wouldn’t notice. You will be pleased to know the following:
New functionality
The eBay Site ID option in the admin panel is now properly implemented and is no longer the mystery I earlier proclaimed it to be :). My deepest apologies to non-UK/US users, I had no intention of excluding you - I am very aware there is a whole planet out there, but I had used US eBay as my basis for some of the parameters and ended up with the limited selection we had before (that’s why Worldwide gave you Canadian results - ha ha ha! Think about that for a second!) So welcome to Sweden, Australia (nod to John), US eBay Motors (yay! Sell cars!) and others!
Bugs fixed
There was a bug where a h2 tag wasn’t closed, as mentioned before, and it was messing up the rest of the page in IE, though not Firefox, strangely. I believe this to be fixed now, but as I have said elsewhere, design aspects have not been at the foremost so far with WordBay, so there may be more HTML and CSS fixing to be done.
I have also fixed another significant bug whereby some prices weren’t displaying properly (and even getting substituted by the search keywords in some places!) In case you are interested in the reason, it was the dollar sign causing problems! PHP marks variables with dollar signs, so you can imagine what kind of trouble that was causing. And that’s why this only affected US and Australian listings - can’t believe I never noticed this before!
So, let’s see how you get along with this version - please keep trying to break it, your feedback really is a great help!
I must also add that with the number of bugs that we have now eliminated it is becoming increasingly unlikely that I will “retro-fit” the old template-based WordBay 0.7BETA extension with the two-pane listing (though I do intend to implement this feature in a later version of the new plugin version), so I hope nobody got too carried away with that version. I now STRONGLY suggest you move over to the new plugin version if you have not done so already and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause people (I will have to move some sites over myself, so I’m in the same boat).

I’m having problems pulling items from ebay motors, I set the ebay site id to US Ebay Motors and put in ducati as my search but i’m getting items from the regular ebay categories instead of ebay motors. Maybe I missed something?
Hi Rob,
Thanks for the feedback. I must admit, support for eBay Motors is new in this version and got implemented rather as a side-effect of fixing another issue, so I haven’t tested this at all and am not very clued up as to how it works. Will investigate and see if I can clarify things, or fix if there is a bug (though I was kind of assuming Motors worked the same as all other sites, but maybe not)
Follow-up: OK, here’s the deal, basically the feed support for eBay Motors is a bit weird (try an Advanced search in eBay Motors, and look for the feed icon - oops, no feed!) basically, eBay Motors appears not to be a true “site” of itself, but rather just a sub-category of US eBay, just like Furniture, Antiques, whatever. Since you cannot select categories currently in WordBay, then the only way really to list motor vehicles is through some very judicious keyword searching.
I will look into implementing categories into WBay but maybe the long-term solution will be to rewrite WB completely to access the eBay API. So at the moment I will have to say that WB does not properly support eBay Motors - sorry.
No sooner had I said it…
OK, you will pleased to know that I have implemented eBay basic categories and this will appear in a new version of WordBay which hopefully I can put out today.
This now means you can get listings from eBay Motors, and also narrow down to the other top-level categories. So look out for v0.8 in the next day or two (skipping 0.7 version number to avoid confusion with the old version)
