WordBay is a powerful Wordpress plugin that allows you to insert eBay product listings in your Wordpress blog pages and posts, and earn commission from sales (if you want to!) You can create a whole niche site quickly and easily - it only takes a few minutes to start earning (er, well, there’s traffic, SEO etc. too…)!
This is the NEW implementation of WordBay which functions as a valid WordBay plugin (unlike the old WordBay 0.7BETA). Please download the zip package and then install as you would any WordPress plugin, by copying the contents of the .zip to the Plugins directory of your WordPress installation (making sure it is in a subdirectory WordBay, as zipped) and activating from the Plugins admin menu in WordPress. Then go to Settings -> WordBay and configure the settings there. Hopefully they are self-explanatory.
The plugin lists items from eBay, from the category/eBay site you specify in the admin panel, using the keywords you provide between [wordbay] tags. There is also now a search box which keeps the visitor on YOUR site, though please see the note about permalinks in the WordBay admin panel. You cannot use this on pages that you created with the old 0.7 (non-plugin) extension!! The easiest way to migrate if you want to (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?), would be to simply change the page template back to Default Template and the new plugin will pick up on the existing [wordbay] tags. For full instructions, see Installing and Configuring WordBay. Please note the disclaimer on the About page! Please do not install WordBay on a business-critical site before you have tested it!
I always need feedback from users as to whether things are working properly, so please give it a test run and let me know here in the comments.
You should bear in mind that some features are not yet implemented, for example impressions-tracking. So clicks ARE tracked, but impressions aren’t, so you will have an abnormally high CTR!

As of version 0.95, WordBay is hosted on the WordPress plugins repository and so to download the latest version just CLICK HERE.
WordBay plugin 0.96 - added multiple columns feature - just don’t panic if anything seems to get messed up - the css just needs adjusting slightly! Go to the Installing and configuring page for instructions.
WordBay WordPress plugin 0.92 10th June - D’OH! Forgot to include the click icon in the release package for the last version! Sorry about that! Also made some small changes for compatibility with the WordPress plugin repository. You should now deactivate the plugin and rename the plugin directory to ‘wordbay’ (lower case) and reactivate it, otherwise it will stop working!! This is because WordBay got approved for the WordPress plugin directory (yay!) but their naming convention insists on lower case. Sorry for the hassle.
WordBay WordPress plugin 0.9 6th June 2008 - added an optional CLICK for details icon to (hopefully) help improve clickthrough and also added a Minimum and Maximum Price setting to help narrow down those listings further (thanks for the suggestion from users).
WordBay WordPress plugin 0.86v - release! 28th May 2008 - we are out of beta! No major changes from the previous version, so no real need to update from 0.85BETA, just tidied the code slightly.
WordBay WordPress plugin 0.85BETA, 14th May 2008 - couple of minor bugs fixed, looking quite stable now. Only need replace wordbay.php file. Next version release candidate?
WordBay WordPress plugin 0.8BETA, 12th May 2008 - eBay categories now implemented, time zone properly displayed.
WordBay WordPress plugin 0.6BETA, 7th May 2008 - just copy the new WordBay.php. eBay country sites now properly implemented and a few glitches fixed.
WordBay WordPress plugin 0.5BETA - please install this latest version. All settings will be preserved. Non-displaying content bug fixed.
WordBay WordPress plugin 0.4BETA: NEW - valid WordPress plugin!
- Download old WordBay 0.7BETA (deprecated - installation and configuration instructions here. Don’t recommend you use this, but it is quite snazzy, with TWO panels, so you can list two different eBay countries. I am planning to implement this in WordBay WP plugin soon)

Hey Mark,
I tried the plug-in and more weird stuff occurring. If I have the plugin activated, the pages work fine, items are showing although there is no header. HOWEVER, when it is activated there is no text on any of the blog posts or other pages. When i deactivate the plugin the other pages display fine…
The only thing I can say is I’m running version 2.5 of wordpress, might that be the issue? I’ve left it activated so you can see for yourself http://blog.omneo.co.uk
Thanks mas… I’ll try implement this plugin on one of my site…
Hi Mark
The plug-in works great and easy to set up but I’m having the same problem as mr Omneo. No text on pages. I’m also using Wordpress 2.5.
Janet
Hi hope you got the latest version of WordBay - these issues are fixed now!
Mark
[…] I’ve downloaded and installed the latest update to WordBay WordPress plugin 0.6BETA […]
Just testing it out on a local server, but here’s what i’ve found so far. The limit bids doesn’t seem to stick after it’s been changed once. Originally i left it at 1, then i changed it to zero. When i put it back up to 1 it still kept pulling in auctions with zero bids. Even with ctrl-f5, it didn’t seem to clear up.
I also think i hit the limit as to how many items i can exclude in a search. Not sure there’s anything you can do about that though since the ebay rss feed has a finite limit also. Maybe a warning to the user when you reach a certain character limit? It may not even be that much of an issue to most people, but sometimes it’s hard to zero in on an auction without a bunch of extraneous crap being listed within the results.
Other than those first impressions, nice little plugin you’ve got here!
Hey AL (another lurker),
Thanks for the comments - that’s definitely a new one! I will try to recreate the problem you’ve described - could be some reason why the variable is not getting changed though I never noticed this, and I am sure I did some changing of that parameter.
Yes I know what you mean about needing a LOT of “minus” search keywords sometimes to filter out the crap. I did wonder whether there was a limit, I will certainly find out what that is and let the user know. I have used up to 30 search terms, but I can imagine the situation where you would need even more than that.
Keep an eye out for updates - I will announce it via the forum if I find and fix the quirk you mention. There is a new version due after 0.6BETA by the way, which eliminates a couple of other bugs, so look out for that in any case.

Hi Mark
The newest version is working great!
Just a thought on future enhancements. Any chance of implementing a ‘minimum/maximum price’ filter? I’m having trouble filtering out either low priced junk I don’t want or high priced items. For example for a site selling car parts, cars will show up if the car part is in the description. A ‘minimum/maximum price’ filter would fix that. I can filter out most of the low priced junk with a string of keywords but I have to keep going back to add more as other auctions are added.
Thanks for the great plugin and for the good support.
Hi, thanks for the idea. Yes, you’re quite right - that is a much-needed addition, and that has usually been the way of fixing the problem.
Would it be OK if it worked globally, from the back-end? I have yet to think about how to permit changing parameters on a per-post basis.
That would be OK for the particular problem I have at the moment. Of course a per-post basis would be nice but globally would still fix a lot of problems.

I think your plugin is a wonderful tool and very easy to use. however, i am having a glitch with it.
I have installed the latest WordBay plugin and it works for a few minutes then the page content disappears. Any suggestions. I’ve deactivated all other plugins to make sure there was not a conflict.
thanks,
Julie
Hi Julie,
That’s strange, haven’t heard that one before. Do you mean when you refresh the page the content disappears? And do you mean just the listings disappear or the entire page content disappears?
There IS a problem which happens occasionally - the listings info is taken from the eBay feed and sometimes the feed simply yields no info for whatever reason and you just get an empty listing. I only noticed it happening rarely so didn’t do anything about it. But I am not sure you are talking about that…
I guess you are using a recent WordPress version like 2.5 and above?
I have just installed your plugin and it is all great apart from one problem I am having.
I am running WP 2.6 so dont know if that is the problem, but when I click on get more details button it comes up as a 404 error and doesnt forward to the ebay page, can this be fixed?
Its OK I sorted it …. I just moved the buy.php file and changed it in the code.
It works like a charm now!
Glad you got it sorted out - that buy.php file seems to cause some confusion on occasion, I will check to see if I explained it properly, or whether there might be a bug where it doesn’t always get located correctly.
But the 404 error coming up has up till now always been a result of the buy.php file not being in the right place, so if anyone else is having those problems, just check if it is where it is supposed to be - in the same directory as the plugin by default, though you can change this in the code fairly easily.
All the best!
hi,
does this plugin support ebay affiliate trough pepperjam?
Thanks
Hi Dini,
No, currently PepperJam is not supported - to be honest I have not joined the program yet and I am unclear as to whether PJ supports use of the eBay RSS feed. If not then it won’t be possible to integrate with PJ. If it DOES, then I will try to implement this as soon as possible.
Hello,
Thanks for the reply.
BANS and phpbay currently supports pepperjam, so I think it can be integrated to this plugin.
I think you can get a fast approval from pepperjam if you told them about this plugin
